From unique hotel stays to culinary innovation and unforgettable hiking tours, we have a wide variety of work available to you. We create customized experiences for our guests, which means we offer all of our team members the ability to be creative in how they provide exceptional hospitality.
“They allow for so much mobility, whether that’s moving around to various venues or vertical career advancement. I couldn’t have asked for a better career experience.”
What can I do on my time off and are there organized activities?
Covering 3.3 million acres of rugged mountains, dynamic glaciers, temperate rainforest, wild coastlines, and deep sheltered fjords, Glacier Bay National Park is a highlight of Alaska’s Inside Passage and part of a 25-million acre World Heritage Site-one of the world’s largest international protected areas. From summit to sea, Glacier Bay offers limitless opportunities for adventure and inspiration including hiking, kayaking, games, camping, movie nights and more.
Where can I go shopping or get essential items?
We organize employee trips into the nearby town for shopping needs. Additionally, there is a convenience store within walking distance as well as discounted items that can be purchased in our retail outlets.
Is there cell phone and internet access?
Glacier Bay is an escape from the hustle and bustle most people are used to. Both cell phone service and internet are spotty in Glacier Bay. Cell phone service is non-existent at the lodge but we do have land lines and you can go into town and get cell service there. There is wifi in the lodge as well as landline computers available but there is not wifi in the employee community.
Are there appearance guidelines?
We have uniforms available for you depending on your role here. We require all of our team members to maintain a professional appearance, including the practice of good hygiene.
Is housing available and what is it like?
The employee housing is comprised of rustic, dormitory-style units. The rooms are very simple. All of the rooms have private bathrooms with a toilet and shower. The rooms have 2-4 beds in them. In most cases, you’ll have one or two other roommates. It is slightly possible that you will be 4 people to a room, but staffing needs generally do not require us to have 4 to a room.
The cost is $15.00 per day for all employees. This includes 3 meals a day in our Employee Dining Room and laundry facilities.
Do you hire international applicants?
We work with CIEE as our J1 visa sponsor for international students. To learn more about opportunities for international students and begin the application process, please click here for the CIEE website.
Where can I get or make food?
We offer low cost meals at employee dining rooms. Additionally, you will enjoy discounts at our general stores and other dining locations in the area.
What is the best way to get to property? What transportation options are there?
Although Glacier Bay is in a very remote and isolated part of the state, getting here is surprisingly easy. There are no roads leading to Gustavus from the mainland, but there are daily airplane and bi-weekly ferry connections from Juneau, the state capital of Alaska to Gustavus/Glacier Bay. So the first step is to fly to Juneau then fly or ferry to Gustavus.
How can I get in touch with the hiring team?
You can email us at Goodell-jessica@aramark.com or give us a call at 907-683-9294.
Does this location require COVID 19 Vaccinations?
Yes, we are committed to work together to create a safe and healthy environment for our team and the customers we serve. In support of these efforts, this location requires all individuals working on site to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 01/18/2022.
