Pikes Peak towers at nearly 14,115 feet above sea level, which is the highest summit on the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Named after explorer Lt. Zebulon Pike and once home to a band of Ute people, the striking beauty of the summit and surrounding land has helped shape our nation’s history. Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, we are lucky enough to operate all three stores on the Pikes Peak highway year-round, including the newly built Summit House.

What to expect

You’ll be working on cloud nine at Pikes Peak, and by cloud nine, we mean it with our summit at 14,115 feet elevation! On a clear day, you can see nearly five states and as far as Kansas or New Mexico. Even during the warm months, you have views of the beautiful snow-capped mountains of the Continental Divide. As one of our team members, you’ll make bonds that last a lifetime with people from all over the world, teammates and guests alike. Pikes Peak teammates enjoy working with others, love meeting new people, and go above and beyond to create memorable moments. Experiences on the mountain provide you with a unique perspective you’ll never find in another work environment.

  • What can I do on my time off and are there organized activities?

    You can expect a fun-filled adventure living and working in this area.  You will have the opportunity to hike, bike, climb, raft, canoe, ride, photograph, stargaze, bird watch, dance, and attend music festivals – only to name a few of the activities that will be available to you during your time at Pikes Peak. During the summer months, our facility is open and free to employees if they want to hike, bike, fish, or do some pedal boating at Crystal Reservoir, which is also one of our stores. Employees receive 40% off all retail merchandise and 50% off all food.

  • Where can I go shopping or get essential items?

    The surrounding towns have plenty of grocery and general stores.

  • Is there cell phone and internet access?

    Guests come to Pikes Peak to adventure and enjoy the views. Due to the location and altitude, cell service and internet are extremely limited on Pikes Peak and can at best be spotty throughout the day. Service picks up at the base and in the surrounding towns.

  • Are there appearance guidelines?

    We have uniforms available for you depending on your role here. We require all of our team members to maintain a professional appearance, including the practice of good hygiene. 

  • Is housing available and what is it like?

    We do not provide room and board. The cities of Colorado Springs and Woodland Park Colorado are very close to the mountain. There are various facilities such as campgrounds for RV parking within 10 miles from the entrance of Pikes Peak. In Colorado Springs (a pick-up point located between Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City), there are several apartment buildings or locations for rent.

     

  • Do you hire international applicants?

  • Where can I get or make food?

    Our employees receive one free meal for each daily shift they work, plus our world-famous donuts are always on-site! Many of the surrounding towns have a variety of restaurants and grocery stores. 

  • What is the best way to get to property? What transportation options are there?

    Colorado Springs is a very bike-friendly city, and public transportation has a drop-off point exactly where our employee van picks employees up. Therefore, there is no definite need for a car, but there is ample parking available if you do have a vehicle. Colorado Springs also has an airport served by most major airlines.
